Renovation & New Build


Garrards have been carrying out property renovation and new build construction within Stevenage for over 15 years.

Much of our experience has been with sites that have existing dilapidated structures already situated.  The development of these sites has required renovation of the existing structures and, in the majority of cases, this has been mixed with the construction of new build dwellings, bringing a previously unused area of land back into its local community.

Projects are low volume but focussed on creating a high quality development in a local vernacular style.

With most of the development sites incorporating existing structures, the company has built up an extensive experience in dealing with listed buildings and with various conservation bodies.  The company has a keen interest in dealing with character properties and in finding sympathetic and creative ways of bringing such properties back into use.

Some examples of our developments are listed below:


Oakfield Farm - 5 new build units consisting of 3 & 4 bed dwellings as well as the renovation of the existing farmhouse building.

Wilton Cottages - The conversion of a listed structure into 3 separate dwellings and the erection of a new build 4 bed detached dwelling.

Dunwich Farm: Phase 1 - Construction of 5 new build detached houses, consisting of 4 & 5 bed.

Company Offices - Construction of 3 storey office block to serve as Garrards' head office


Dunwich Farm: Phase 2 - The conversion of a grade II listed barn into 2 separate dwellings


The Gunnells - The renovation and conversion of the existing 'arts & craft' detached house into 2 separate dwellings and the erection of 10 new apartment units.

The Mill House - situated on an old industrial milling site, this project is still going through the planning stage.
